What is Confirmation of Payee (CoP)?
To help protect our members from fraud, scams and mistaken payments, we’re launching Confirmation of Payee (CoP) in 2025 — a new security feature that adds an extra layer of protection when you’re sending money.

How it works
When you enter someone’s BSB, account number, and account name — either for a new payee or when updating details — CoP will automatically check if the name matches. Based on that check, you’ll receive one of the following match outcomes:
- Match
- Close Match
- No Match
- No Account Found
What do the match outcomes mean?

Match
This means the details you’ve entered match the bank records of the intended recipient.

Close Match
This means the name is similar but not an exact match. You’ll be shown the actual account name and you can decide if you want to proceed with the payment or not.

No match
This means the name does not match. This may indicate an error or potential scam, and you should stop and review the payment details carefully.

No account found
This means the account details you entered could not be verified.

- Rollout: Coming to Police Bank later in 2025
- Applies to: Most personal and business accounts in Australia
