EFTPOS token expiry

Due to an EFTPOS industry wide technical update, some payments made using EFTPOS via a debit card in a digital wallet (Apple Pay, Google Pay and Samsung Pay) have been identified with an EFTPOS token expiry date of the 31st of December 2024 and may be unsuccessful from 1 January 2025.

To fix the issue, simply remove the debit card from your mobile wallet and add it back in and your payments will be accepted as normal. 

Remove your debit card from Apple Pay on your iPhone: 

1. Open Wallet > tap your Police Bank debit card 
2. Tap “…” in the upper right corner 
3. Select “Card Details”
4. Select ”Remove Card”

Add your debit card back into Apple Pay on your iPhone via Apple Wallet: 

1. Open the Wallet app
2. Tap the “Add Card” (+) button
3. When prompted to add your card, select Debit or Credit Card 
4. Tap ‘Continue’
5. Add your card by;
   • holding your physical card to your phone
   • adding your card by manually entering your card details, or
   • scanning your card with your camera
6. Authenticate with Face ID or Touch ID
7. Follow the onscreen instructions

Add your debit card back into Apple Pay on your iPhone via the Mobile Banking App: 

1. Log into the Mobile Banking App
2. Select ‘Cards’ from the menu at the bottom of the screen
3. Select ‘Add to Apple Wallet’
4. Follow the onscreen instructions

Google Pay

Samsung Pay

No, this is purely an issue with an expiry date associated with the card in your mobile wallet. It is not a security issue and at no point has any data been compromised.

No, this only affects debit cards that have been added to mobile wallets. Your physical card will work fine.

No, this only applies to payments sent via EFTPOS on debit cards in mobile wallets.
